- Calderon took the oath of office at midnight at Los Pinos but has insisted that he will still go to the legislature later today. Things are still testy in the Chamber of Deputies even though two minor parties, Nueva Alianza and Alternativa Socialdemocratica, are urging a peaceful transfer and trying to broker an agreement. All of this is making for entertaining TV. Outside of the Chamber thousands of protestors are expected. NYT notes that Calderon has a challenging road ahead and the LAT says he comes to Los Pinos "weak." Even then the LAT opinion page still heralded Mexico's new day and hoped that he'll take on business interests.
